Hi Everyone,
Today was a wonderful start to our week. It is the first time our entire class was present since last Monday! It was so nice to see everyone, hopefully everyone’s able to stay healthy.
Learning in 3RA-
Spelling- Our new lists were given out today; the kids did their first written sort and will continue to work with them until November 23 when we take our assessment. We’re cutting  this one two days short so we don’t have to come back to it on Monday, November 28. Look for their spelling envelopes to come home on Monday, November 21st.
Reading- This week we are spending some time reviewing our most important skills of Trimester 1. We’ll focus on cause and effect, summarizing, main idea and details, context clues, and questioning. We’ll be using a variety of reading materials from Social Studies to implement these skills.
Social Studies- Over the next eight days we’ll be hitting a variety of topics- Amelia Earhart, Benjamin Franklin, Communities Past and Present, and Communities Needs and Wants. There will be several little readers that the kids will bring home too. Please read them and send them back signed for a Lincoln Loot!
Math- We will finish Unit 4. The skills that we are working on are basic multiplication ( we’ll be spending a lot of time skip counting), simple division through story problems, building arrays, multiplication and division number stories, fact families, estimating distances on a map and probability. We’ll be testing the morning of Wednesday, November 23rd.
Writing- We will continue to work on Word Choice when editing our writing. The kids have just finished up their Narrative Writing and we’ll be starting our Expository Writing tomorrow. It should be another fun one.
Math Home Links- I plan on sending home two this week, Tuesday and Thursday. Look for these in their take home folders.
Have a wonderful week everybody!
